Pearl Harbor

Dec. 7, 1941 lives in infamy as the day Japan bombed Pearl Harbor - the final trigger that brought the United States into World War II
USS Arizona Memorial
Sitting out in the middle of the harbor is the USS Arizona Memorial - a swooping, stark-white structure that straddles the actual wreck of the USS Arizona (which still rests in its watery grave at the bottom of the harbor). Tour tickets are required.

USS Missouri
The last battleship ever built, the Missouri’s presence in Pearl Harbor perfectly offsets the Arizona Memorial. On September 2, 1945, the Japanese signed the terms of surrender to end WWII on the starboard deck of the “Mighty Mo”.

USS Bowfin
Launched one year to the day after the Pearl Harbor attack, the USS Bowfin (submarine) sank 44 enemy ships during WWII. This diminutive war ship – just 16 feet in diameter – now serves as the main attraction for the museum honoring all submarines.
