Kayaking is quickly becoming a top choice for visitors to the islands. Kayaking alone or with a partner on the open ocean provides a vantage point not afforded by swimming or surfing. Rentals and tours are available from four companies.

Watch for pods of dolphins from your perch in the clouds.

Scuba Diving
Just under the surface, there are literally hundreds of species of fish and marine life that you can find only in the isolated environment of the Hawaiian Islands. If you’re not PADI certified before coming to Hawaii, plan for a week of dive classes before you venture into the water.

Anyone who can swim can snorkel without any formal training – and you can do it anywhere there’s enough water to stick your face in and look around.

Gives the nondiver their first glimpse of the freedom of scuba without needing scuba certification. Snuba utilizes a standard air tank and a 20-foot hose that allows you to swim up to 15 feet down to chase fish unfettered by heavy tanks and weights.

The waves switch with the seasons – so, if you’re not experienced, it’s best to go where the waves are smaller.

Windsurfing & Kiteboarding
Windsurfing was born here in the Islands and is a little easier for the inexperienced. Kiteboarding will sometimes take you into the air for hundreds of feet – you’ll need some real arm strength to hang on.

Seawalker Adventure
This is a once-in-lifetime experience - you’ll literally walk underwater with this unique adventure. A special pressurized helmet allows you to observe the underwater world to a depth of 15 feet without any dive certification. You’ll actually walk on the ocean floor, rather than swim, while exotic fish and sea life surround you.
